AEDC DomainsPhysical health and wellbeing; Social competence

In this workshop we consider the importance of the learning environment for the success and wellbeing of children and educators. It is delivered as part of a Coaching package once the Coach is familiar with your setting.

We consider sensory challenges and supports, furniture placement and size, choice, storage, and layout of equipment, indoor and outdoor programs, and an introduction to early literacy and numeracy for early childhood settings.

We then take time to discuss the environments in the centre, as observed during our coaching visits. Educators and managers will have the opportunity to reflect together with the coach on the reasons for the current environmental settings and discuss and plan for changes together.

By considering both indoor and early childhood outdoor environments, educators and managers can reflect on how the physical environment supports children and the people working within the setting. This collaborative approach provides an opportunity to consider practical changes to early childhood environments based on observations within the centre.
