| AEDC Domain | Supporting educators to discuss developmental concerns across all domains |
Many educators feel hesitant to discuss their concerns about a child’s development with the family members / guardians. They may feel that they ‘are not on the same page’ as the family. This difficult conversations with parents presentation considers some different perspectives of families and the barriers which might be stopping them from requesting additional support for their child.
We consider ways to begin collaborative conversations with families by observing strengths as well as challenges for the child. Understanding and respecting different perspectives can help educators build trusting relationships with parents and families while valuing the knowledge and experience everyone brings to the conversation.
The 2027 version of this training includes information about services available through the Thriving Kids program which is replacing NDIS for young children.
