A new presentation for a wider audience!
Many people have requested information and support from us to create more inclusive and neurodiversity affirming environments and programs for both children and adults. This short presentation introduces the SPACE strategies which can be used by educators, therapists, employers and more.
In this new version of our presentation, we combine the original SPACE training with time to discuss ways to use SPACE strategies to build stronger connections with Autistic children. We tell the story of a child who attends two centres, and reflect on why he is so much more successful in one than the other.
Completion of ‘Autism: Seeing the Big Picture’ is a preferred pre-requisite for this training.
SPACE provides an accessible introduction to neurodiversity training for educators and professionals who want practical ways to consider inclusion within the environments and programs they provide. It also complements Early Childhood Outreach’s EC inclusion training and early childhood inclusion training for professionals seeking to build their knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming practice.
SRF broad goal
This item aligns with SRF Broad Goal:
‘The service will develop and implement systematic processes which focus on improving equitable access,’
The SPACE strategies support this goal by encouraging educators to consider how inclusive and neurodiversity affirming EC environments and programs can improve access and participation for children with different needs.
