Frequently asked questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about Early Childhood Outreach, including our early childhood training, coaching, funding options, online and face-to-face services, and support for educators and early childhood teams. Explore the information below to learn more about how our services work and find the support that best suits your setting.

Is all your content available through School Readiness Funding (SRF)?

Yes. A SECRET and Difficult Conversations are individual SRF menu items. All other services can be accessed either using ‘Flexible Funds’, or by creating a ‘Coaching’ package and using that menu item.

What other funds can we use to pay for your services?

In Queensland you can use Kindy Uplift funding. In South Australia you can use Enhancing Quality funding. In OSH, FDC or centre based long day care, you can use Innovative Solutions funding.

What are the different ways to access the training?

Three options:

  • Live face to face at your centre – quote will include travel and accommodation.
  • Live online via Zoom – individual webinar tickers or a team booking for your centre.
  • Pre-recorded on demand – price per person with discounts for more than 10.
How does coaching work?

The initial visit to the centre allows for 2 hours in each kindergarten room, with the educators and children. This gives the opportunity for the coach to see a range of things including free play, transitions, mealtime and/or group activity; and to see how the educators and children are interacting with each other and with the program. As ‘an extra pair of eyes’ in the room, the coach is able to pay close attention to possible triggers for challenging behaviour and ways to tweak the environment and program to better meet the needs, skills and interests of the children.

After the observations, the coach will meet with the educators for an hour per room to reflect and discuss strategies to try. This meeting can occur face to face on the same day as the observations, or online at a later date. This cycle can be repeated for each funded Kindergarten room in your centre.

If subsequent face to face or online support is requested, the coach will check in with the educators to see how the strategies have been working and offer to model them in the room in real time. Any new successes or challenges will be discussed and addressed.

With a long term package of support, the coach is able to build strong, supportive relationships with the educators, help them to build their confidence and embed their new learning into the programs.

Will you travel to us?

Yes – we are happy to visit you at your centre, wherever you are! If you are concerned that travel and accommodation costs will be prohibitive, talk to other centres in your area to see if we can arrange a shared session, or shared travel costs for consecutive bookings.

Many regional and remote centres are combining a presentation in the evening with a coaching session the following morning as this gives maximum benefit for their funds.

We are happy to run the training after hours, during the day or even at weekends.

How do you calculate the additional costs?

We calculate travel fees from our head office on a ‘per hour’ basis, not a ‘per km’ basis. This ensures that regional and remote centres are treated as fairly as metro centres.

Accommodation fees will be added for any booking which ends after 6pm, or is more than 2 hours from head office.

A metro weighting will be added.

In 2027/8 Vic travel costs will be calculated from Geelong.

How does pooled funding work?

If multiple centres within your organisation or local area would like to access support, we are happy to negotiate online or face to face options using funds from a range of sources.

Discuss this with your DET contact.

Do we have to know which term we would like to access your support?

Our new prices are valid for any term in the 2027/8 planning cycle. If you are requesting a long term support package, we will lock in dates as soon as possible to ensure the whole package can be completed.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel with less than a week to go before your training session, we will replace your live session with pre-recorded content, after you have paid your invoice. If you paid for accommodation and travel, we will offer an online Q and A session after the team has completed the pre-recorded content. As we need to book accommodation in advance, and cannot fill a last minute cancellation with another booking, we have to stick to this policy.

If you have an ongoing coaching package booking with us, we will try as hard as we can to reschedule if something happens at the last minute which affects our visit.

We are always grateful if you let us know as soon as you are aware that things may need to change.

The most recent version of our policy is visible here.
